Are you a young person aged 14 to 18?
Are you interested in contemporary history and comparing it with the nowadays issues?
Would you like to know more about myths and historical distortions? To learn how they influence our society and our ways of thinking about “the other”? To see if different European countries have similar myths?
If your answers are positive, you are the perfect candidate for this online exchange!
What is the exchange about? The exchange will focus on myths from the past, covering the topics of antisemitism and Holocaust denial, anti-Gypsysm and Roma discrimination, anti-Muslim propaganda and xenophobia. The program also includes contemporary myths regarding anti-migrant and anti-refugees propaganda and discussions on how European societies are using similar patterns to create new “enemies” and “scapegoats”. The exchange aims to map myths and distortions of historical facts among youth and deconstruct them through the tools of historic-civic education.
At the end of the exchange, you will create your own presentation and a story about a chosen myth from your country. Later on we will use the materials you created to make educational videos debunking historical myths, so don’t miss out this opportunity to make a difference!
You will meet, chat and interact with other young people like yourself, from other countries. Together with your peers from Croatia, Greece, Romania, Serbia and Spain, you will have the chance to learn, discuss and debate these topics. You will also have the opportunity to express your imagination in creative workshops and prepare materials for the videos we will create.
