Blooming the Future of STEAM

“BLOOMING: Inclusion and Diversity in STEAM” is a collaborative project funded by Erasmus+ aimed at promoting inclusion and diversity within the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) for a sustainable future. The project spans from 2023 to 2025 and involves partners from Greece, Italy, Ireland, and Romania.

The primary goal of the project is to develop educational resources and training programs targeting educators and students aged 14 and above. These resources aim to empower educators to implement inclusive teaching practices in the STEAM classroom and inspire more young women to pursue careers in STEAM fields. By addressing the gender gap in STEM education, the project seeks to enhance employment opportunities, reduce occupational segregation, and increase productivity.

Key priorities and topics include fostering inclusion and diversity in all aspects of education, particularly in higher education, and encouraging women’s participation in STEM fields. The project also emphasizes the creation and promotion of learning opportunities for all citizens and generations.

The project’s target groups include educators, students aged 14 and above, and key actors in education such as education authorities and organizations promoting gender equality and STEM education. Special attention is given to encouraging young Roma women to consider careers in STEAM.

Expected outputs of the project include the Blooming STEAM toolkit, which will comprise resources highlighting the importance of inclusion in STEM, including stories of STEAM women from the past, a repository of scientific articles by leading women, and guidelines for promoting inclusion in the STEAM classroom. Additionally, the Blooming storybook will feature stories of contemporary women working in STEAM fields across Europe, using storytelling to engage young learners and promote inclusive teaching methodologies.

The project also includes face-to-face and online training programs for educators and graduate students in education, focusing on promoting inclusion and diversity in the STEAM classroom. These training programs will equip educators with the knowledge and skills to implement inclusive practices and utilize the Blooming toolkit and storybook effectively.

Through its various initiatives, the “Blooming the Future of STEAM” project aims to raise awareness about the gender gap in STEAM, inspire young learners to pursue STEAM careers, and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable future.
