WELCOME TO SEEyouth home

This site is one of the results of a long-term project initiated by a group of NGOs involved in youth activities from several countries of South-Eastern and Western Europe. It aims at providing useful information for youth in SEE and at stimulating the involvement of youth organisations in designing better youth policies in the countries of SEE. The project is funded by the Council of Europe's European Youth Foundation.

RESPONSIBILITY AND INVOLVEMENT

A question we often hear is “DO WE CARE?” and if we c nct. From this, we discover inner conflicts that affect the world outside us. This is some kind of parabola for the societies we live in, as for the past few years it is a characteristic of the South-Eastern European region.

The try to organize in the spirit of civilization coordinates is being opposed the raw force, the will to lead dictatorially. The temptation of violence is huge to any young person, following a lost battle with himself, the abandoning of the aim every young person should have.

This is a request to break the pattern inside young people, as the danger of falling in the elementary condition is immense. This is an appeal to responsibility, to common work, to building a future together.

The South-Eastern European region is quite troubled and torn. But we live here and we want it to offer us a better life. Young people can be responsible, can work for the benefit of other people. Young people, if treated as a force and a resource can achieve miracles.

Sometimes we stand naked in front of other people, waiting for them to dress us up, waiting for our clothes be given to us. This is the pattern I was talking above. We should just learn how to take everything we need, we should learn how to get involved.

I think two main things will give us the power we want: responsibility and involvement. But this should not come only from our part. This is something we want to see in every person that represents our rights, whether he is part of a Government or an institution. Many say they represent the interest of the young generation, but the only interest they represent is theirs. We want to be a part of the decision-making process so that we can decide for ourselves what is best for us. We can be responsible for our own actions and we can, for sure, determine the road of our life.
