  The issue of the Roma communities has a very important place in the I.I.T.'s activities. Several projects have approached this issue under different aspects:

the education of Roma children;
combating prejudice and discrimination against Roma;
the development of the civil society inside Roma communities and particularly support for young Roma to become involved in organizations, projects and activities aiming at improving the situation of Roma;
the improvement of the relations of Roma with public authorities.

The I.I.T. has collaborated in these projects with Roma associations from different regions of Romania . Representatives of Roma community have also been involved in other projects generally addressed to minority communities.
